Malina

An unnamed writer lives in Vienna with her lover Ivan and her close friend Malina. Caught between everyday life, desire, and memory, her perception of the world gradually begins to unravel. As she struggles to make sense of her conflicting emotions and relationships, the boundaries between reality, fantasy, and her inner demons become increasingly blurred.

Werner Schroeter's MALINA, based on Ingeborg Bachmann's novel of the same name, is an atmospheric and uncompromising drama about love, identity, and the dissolution of the self. Starring Isabelle Huppert, Mathieu Carrière, and Christiane Hörbiger, the film combines striking visual imagery with a haunting, surreal atmosphere.
