Los Ofendidos (The Offended)
It is only much later that Marcela Zamora learns that her father was tortured for 33 days during the civil war in El Salvador. And it takes even longer before she is able to talk about it. Not only her father – a prominent figure in the political struggle – but also other victims and a perpetrator of the regime share their memories. Zamora intersperses explicit archive footage from the civil war era (1979–1992), accounts from survivors and stark footage of former torture prisons with her voiceover, in which she addresses how difficult it is for her generation to break the silence.
