Disco Boy

After traveling across Europe, Aleksei arrives in Paris in the hope of joining the Foreign Legion. In search of a new life, he does everything he can to get the French passport he has been promised. In the Niger Delta, Jomo fights against the oil companies that threaten to destroy his village and the lives of his people. One day, he and an armed group kidnap two French nationals. A commando from the Foreign Legion intervenes, led by Aleksei. The encounter between Jomo and Aleksei turns out differently than expected. The fates of the two men merge across borders, bodies, life and death.
Giacomo Abbruzzese's almost hypnotic feature film debut with the outstanding Franz Rogowski in the title role screened in competition at the 2023 Berlinale and was awarded the Silver Bear for Hélène Louvart's cinematography.
