CARTOGRAFÍA DEL TRÓPICO TERCO
Andrea Rosales, Honduras, 2026, short documentary
WRITTEN BY Andrea Rosales | CINEMATOGRAPHY Maya Alemán | EDITING Maya Alemán | FEATURING Andrea Ruiz, Karla Funes, Helena Díaz, Andrea Rosales
8 min | Color, Spanish with English subtitles, DCP

In Honduras, feminist activism has a public face—one that is rarely captured. *Cartografía del trópico terco* approaches this personal space from an autobiographical perspective, set in the historic center of Tegucigalpa, where the city, memory, and the body converge.

The short film explores what quietly accumulates after years of activism—the burdens carried together, and that hard-to-define tenacity that keeps one staying, even when leaving might be the more sensible choice.

Through urban paths and everyday moments, a multi-layered portrait emerges of a city that is both loved and hated—with all its traces, contradictions, and ties.

VIAJE DE INICIACIÓN
Gloria Carrión and Gabriel Vallecillo Márquez, Honduras / Nicaragua, 2026, short documentary
WRITTEN BY Gloria Carrión and Gabriel Vallecillo Márquez | CINEMATOGRAPHY Nohely Floritza Barahona | EDITING Rodrigo Quintero Arauz | SOUND José Rommel Tuñón | MUSIC Bruno Cortina | FEATURING César Enrique Ayala
14 min | Color, Spanish with English subtitles, DCP

Some wounds do not heal because they were never given the chance.
In 1989, a plane belonging to the Honduran airline TAN-SAHSA crashed into a mountainside near Tegucigalpa. 131 people died, including the parents of Enrique Ayala, who was a teenager at the time. What was officially labeled an "accident" remains not fully explained to this day: the final report was never published, the surviving pilots never spoke publicly about the disaster, and the airline went bankrupt shortly thereafter. Left behind were families with no answers, no one held accountable—and no place to channel their grief.
Thirty-six years later, Enrique—now 49—returns to Honduras. What begins as a personal quest to uncover the causes of the disaster evolves into a journey through the landscapes of his childhood and the stories of others who lost loved ones in the tragedy. Along the way, he encounters long-repressed memories and questions he never dared to ask himself.
As he travels between the United States and Honduras, the line between dream and reality begins to blur. The past is no longer a closed chapter, but something immediate and visceral. This is a personal documentary about inherited silence, suppressed truths, and the courage to confront one’s own ghosts—a journey Enrique had to undertake, sooner or later, in order to move forward with his life.

UN BANANERO EN SU LABERINTO
Hispano Durón, Honduras / USA, 2026, Documentary
WRITTEN BY Dario A. Euraque and Hispano Durón | CINEMATOGRAPHY Audrey Merckling | EDITING Evan Green and Gonzalo Arzamendía | SOUND Easton Lane | FEATURING Dario A. Euraque, Mildred Oyuela, David Martínez
60 min | Color, Spanish with English subtitles, DCP

In this biographical documentary, historian Darío A. Euraque traces the life of Rafael López Padilla, a Honduran banana producer who, in the early 20th century, amassed wealth by selling his harvests to U.S.-owned banana companies. However, the economic downturn in the late 1920s led to his financial ruin. López Padilla subsequently became a staunch critic of the foreign fruit corporations, documenting their abuses and denouncing them to the governments of Honduras and the United States.
