Yugoslavia, Palestine, and Iraq are just three of the many war-torn countries that photographer Anja Niedringhaus captured in her iconic images before she was killed in a terrorist attack in Afghanistan on April 4, 2014, while on assignment. For her work in Iraq as part of her assignment for the Associated Press (AP), she became the first German photographer to receive the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in 2005, along with nine colleagues.
