First, the magic.

Are there any words that go together better than “movies” and “magic”? Or rather, aren’t these two inseparable?

The magic that leaps off the screen and onto us makes us forget, fills us with wonder, keeps us captivated, and leaves us longing for more—yet it also sends us back to reality, still enchanted. Somehow, we’re different afterward. We want to share what we’ve experienced, discuss it, rave about it together, or simply process it in silence.

Why all the mystery?

When we go to the movies, we’re already putting ourselves in the hands of others anyway. But at least we have some idea of what to expect. The trailers, ads, reviews, stories, and recommendations from others have prepared us just a little bit for what’s coming. And in doing so, they’ve robbed us of a little bit of the magic. So why not let go of that control? Why not not know what we’ll see or what will happen around us? Let’s just go to the movies. Will this journey through the dark hall take us down the Yellow Brick Road? Or will it even take us down any roads at all? Because maybe there aren’t any roads where we’re going …

After all … it’s all about the movies

Yes, that’s right—plural. But don’t worry, there are no double or triple features here. We’ll all get home on time. But going to the movies is a collective experience, so it’s okay to make a collective decision. Three envelopes, three movies, excitement, despair, joy, possibilities—one decision. Ta-da! The lights go out, and the silver screen reveals the secret. The two movies that weren’t chosen? Who knows. A mystery.

P.S.: For the Faint of Heart

A quick heads-up: There’s no need for a heads-up. Magical Mystery Movie is a safe space. The series itself is the thrill. That’s why we avoid jump scares, excessive gore, and scenes that would make the less courageous among us close their eyes. That’s what the night filter is for…
