A film that strikes right at the heart, ZENNE DANCER tells a story of freedom, desire and the limits of a society that allows neither. In vibrant Istanbul, three lives collide that could hardly be more different: Daniel, a gay German photojournalist who roams the city with a curious eye but without a real understanding of its cultural codes. Can, a self-assured, dazzling belly dancer who lives his art and identity openly, supported by a surprisingly supportive family. And Ahmet, caught between tradition and longing, raised in a conservative environment that leaves no room for his truth. Their paths cross amidst military service, social pressure and the search for belonging. Encounters turn into decisions, closeness into tension, and hope into a tragic rift.
