Way Out West
The East in particular breathes a sigh of relief when Stan and Ollie set off for the West. They are supposed to deliver the deed to a gold mine to the daughter of a deceased friend, but a saloon owner gets in their way ... How to eat a hat or stop a carriage by exposing your bare lower leg as a hitchhiker can be learned here, among other things. As one of the duo's best feature-length films - and allegedly their favorite film - WAY OUT WEST has rightly achieved cult status, which is even reflected in the music charts almost 40 years after its release, when the song "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine" reached number two in England (B-Side: "Honolulu Baby"). Well deserved, Stan masters all kinds of challenging situations as well as amazing vocal ranges.
