Silent Cinema by Krste Gospodinovski is a puppet animation film about the end of the silent film era, created over eight years and impressively filmed as an almost 17-minute one-shot. In Daughters of the Late Colonel, Elizabeth Hobbs contrasts a short story about an authoritarian militarist and his subservient daughters with an exceptionally experimental visual language. A multi-layered collage of visual strategies is presented in Merrimundi by Niles Atallah, who says of it: “…the film defends the chaotic, confusing, profoundly human right to dream.”
