Vermeer – Reise ins Licht

In her documentary film, Suzanne Raes looks at the life and work of the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, who became one of the most famous artists of his time with his iconic paintings such as "The Girl with the Pearl Earring". Despite his small oeuvre, Vermeer is still a fascinating personality about whom much has been written but little is known. In his last year before retirement, the renowned Vermeer expert Gregor Weber is working on his grand vision: the largest Vermeer exhibition of all time. Together with other Vermeer enthusiasts and experts, he sets out in search of the secret of what really makes a Vermeer. Through new discoveries and a close look at his works, the choices Vermeer made in his work and the steps in his oeuvre are examined to bring us closer to the painter.
