Trotta

After the end of the First World War, the Austro-Hungarian officer Trotta returns to Vienna from Russian captivity. Trotta is overwhelmed by the new political order—the Empire no longer exists—; he has lost his fortune, and his wife is involved in a lesbian relationship. A melancholic portrait of the early days of the First Austrian Republic, based on the novel *The Capuchin Crypt* by Joseph Roth.
