Trop c’est trop (Enough is enough)
Life in the resource-rich Kivu region in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been marked by armed conflict and war for thirty years, and since 2022 by a renewed offensive by the M23 rebels, supported by Rwanda. “Enough is enough!” say and shout the people in Elisé Sawasawa’s film. The director documents the life-threatening conditions on the ground, as well as the frustration and anger directed at the warring factions, the supposedly inactive “own” government and the UN peacekeeping mission on the ground. In doing so, he finds a will to fight, dance, sing and an indomitable spirit.
