Tiger

By day, Taiga gets by on poorly paid jobs in Tokyo; at night, he disappears into the city’s gay clubs. His life is defined by excess and restlessness, and his real ambition is to find a place in the gay porn industry. But he has yet to find somewhere he truly feels at home. A visit to his family in the countryside only deepens his sense of alienation. Taiga’s father, who has cancer and knows nothing about his son’s homosexuality, wants to discuss the inheritance with his children. But Taiga’s strict sister dismisses him as a good-for-nothing and argues that, as an unmarried man without children, he does not deserve an equal share. His renewed contact with a former lover, now married with a child of his own, only intensifies the already unbearable pressure. In a desperate and ultimately futile act, Taiga tries to assert his longing for acceptance, social respect, and a sense of belonging within his family.
