The Weight – Im Goldrausch

Oregon, 1933: After his wife’s death, Samuel Murphy (Ethan Hawke) is separated from his daughter and ends up in a labor camp. To regain custody of his daughter, Murphy strikes a risky deal with the ruthless camp overseer Clancy (Russell Crowe): He is promised early release if, in return, he joins a group of smugglers on a gold transport through the unforgiving wilderness. But aside from the dangers lurking in the rugged terrain, the mission is also sabotaged by mistrust and betrayal within their own ranks. The closer the group gets to its destination, the more Murphy doubts the price he must pay for his freedom and to be reunited with his child.
