England in the 14th century. The country is suffering from a devastating wave of plague and growing social inequality. As discontent with King Richard II increases, the peasant Ploughman joins a group of rebels led by Wat Tyler and the preacher John Ball. When they reach London, the protest erupts into violent clashes. King Richard II is forced to negotiate with the peasants, who are fighting for their rights to freedom and justice.
British director Paul Greengrass (BLOODY SUNDAY, THE BOURNE SUPREMACY) brings the 1381 Peasants’ Revolt to the screen in this impressive historical drama. The film was shot with a star-studded cast on locations across Bavaria.
