The Sky Crawlers
In an alternate world, young pilots fight in a seemingly endless war. Known as the Kildren, they are artificially created beings who never grow older and are repeatedly sent into combat. When young pilot Yūichi Kannami is transferred to a new unit, he begins to question the rules of this world and the nature of his own existence.
Mamoru Oshii's THE SKY CRAWLERS (2008) combines spectacular aerial combat with a melancholic meditation on war, memory, identity, and the cyclical nature of violence. Moving between breathtaking flight sequences and quiet, contemplative moments, the film unfolds as an unusual science-fiction drama about people trapped in a world with no end.
