Khaled is twelve, lives in the West Bank, and has never been to the sea. He is looking forward to his first school trip there—until he is the only one turned back at the checkpoint. Determined not to accept this, he sets off alone despite all the dangers.
The film sparked controversy due to its numerous wins at the Israeli Academy Awards, prompting Likud Culture Minister Miki Zohar to threaten to withdraw funding for the awards in 2026.
