In an absurd, dystopian future, the former Kerberos special forces unit has been dismantled following a failed uprising. Ex-member Koichi Todome returns to Japan, only to find himself haunted by his past and soon caught in a surreal web of conspiracies, pursuit, and violence.

With THE RED SPECTACLES (1987), Mamoru Oshii makes his live-action directorial debut, bringing the dark world of the Kerberos universe to the screen in an eccentric blend of science fiction, black comedy, and absurdist action. Combining stylized imagery, deadpan humor, and surreal moments, the film offers an unconventional take on power, memory, and the search for a lost identity.
