THE PROMISED LAND
In Łódź in the late 19th century, three young men – a Pole, a German and a Jew – join forces to make their fortune together. But their partnership soon descends into a race for profit. Despite all its formal opulence, the narrative remains sharp, bitterly ironic and morally precise – a ‘Dickensian’ portrait of capitalism, whose political explosiveness remains undiminished to this day.
