The Pavilion
What happens when those who have nothing left to lose fight back? THE PAVILION transforms a care home into an explosive battlefield: after years of humiliation and neglect, the residents resort to drastic measures, taking the staff hostage and declaring war on the system. What begins as a desperate uprising quickly escalates into a political and media spectacle. With black humour and biting sharpness, the film exposes the dark underbelly of society and poses uncomfortable questions about dignity, power and responsibility. Their frail bodies may be weak, but their anger remains unbroken. More than twenty years after his multi-award-winning debut, Dino Mustafić returns with a tragicomedy that is as provocative as it is multi-layered, navigating between bitter reality and grotesque exaggeration, featuring an outstanding ensemble cast led by Rade Šerbedžija, Ksenija Pajić and Mirjana Karanović. THE PAVILION premiered as the opening film at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival in 2025 – an angry, provocative cinematic experience that lingers long in the memory.
