The Help
Jackson, Mississippi, in the 1960s: After graduating from college, young Skeeter Phelan returns to her hometown and begins working as a writer. She decides to write a book about the African American domestic workers employed by the wealthy white families of the city. To do so, she begins interviewing Aibileen and Minny, who, despite the risks, agree to share their personal experiences of racism, exploitation, and discrimination.
THE HELP (2011) tells the story of women who begin to challenge the social structures of their time, combining humor and emotional depth with an unflinching look at racial segregation in the American South of the 1960s.
