The Good Years
Michael, a photographer in his fifties, returns to his childhood home to care for his mother, Christl, who is in the early stages of dementia. Despite his own health struggles—lung disease and depression—he embraces this role with unwavering devotion, seeing it not as a burden but as an act of unconditional love. As Christl’s condition stabilizes, Michael’s own health falters. The Good Years gently unpacks the trials of aging and the quiet resilience of caretaking, capturing the essence of life’s unplanned turns.
After the screening, director Reiner Riedler will take part in a Q&A.
