In an abandoned villa in Tuscany during the 1940s, nurse Hana cares for a severely burned man whose identity remains a mystery. As the war draws to a close, a quiet bond develops between them. Through a series of flashbacks, the patient's story gradually unfolds, revealing his passionate love affair with a married woman in the Sahara. The vastness of the desert, its heat, and its silence become the backdrop for a romance that is both overwhelming and inevitably destructive.

At the same time, a second intimate relationship blossoms within the villa: the one between Hana and Kip, a Sikh bomb disposal expert. Their encounters are tentative, shaped by the exhaustion of war and a longing for closeness that reveals itself only gradually. Weaving these love stories together with the fates of other wartime survivors, the film creates a rich tapestry of memory, loss, and the struggle to preserve humanity in the midst of devastation.
