Retrospective
Ternitz, Tennessee
Betty and Lilly live in Ternitz and dream of Tennessee—anything to get out of the provinces. One spends her time tinkering with fast cars and driving a Ford Mustang; the other grooms poodles and falls for an Elvis impersonator she sees on a home-shopping channel. Their longing for freedom is far more vivid than the dreary reality they inhabit… Mirjam Unger describes her film as an "unintellectual pop fairy tale—bittersweet and carried by the charm of its protagonists."
