Tano da Morire
Tano Guarrasi was shot dead with six shots in his butcher's shop. The true story of a dead mafioso is the starting point for Roberta Torre's mafia musical TANO DA MORIRE, one of the most original films in Italian cinema of the 1990s. Torre directs Tano Guarrasi as a sleazy mafioso in a visual language that is more reminiscent of John Waters than The Godfather. The film is a revue of scenes from Tano Guarrasi's life and death, populated by amateur actors from the poor neighbourhoods of Palermo.
