Melanie Parker (Michelle Pfeiffer), an architect and single mother, juggles her child and career frantically but successfully. She has her life completely organised until events come thick and fast and she meets Jack Taylor (George Clooney) of all people. Jack, a journalist and womaniser, is also single and suddenly a responsible father. Melanie’s son and Jack’s daughter force the pair to coordinate their hectic daily lives for a day and work together to find solutions to problems they hadn’t even realised they had before.
