After comedy classics such as Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, director, producer, and co-writer Mel Brooks ventures into a faraway galaxy. The cult comedy SPACEBALLS became one of the most successful films in Germany in 1987, drawing nearly 1.2 million cinema-goers, and remains hugely popular to this day.

Whether Star Wars, Star Trek, or Battlestar Galactica—everything labeled science fiction or fantasy is sent up mercilessly. Brooks not only wields the laser sword behind the camera but also appears in front of it in a dual role as Yogurt and President Skroob. He is supported by Rick Moranis (Little Shop of Horrors), John Candy (Uncle Buck), Bill Pullman (Independence Day), and Daphne Zuniga (Melrose Place).

The rulers of the planet Spaceball have recklessly depleted the valuable atmosphere around their sun. Now they hatch a secret plan to siphon the air from their peaceful neighbors on the planet Druidia. The cunning President Skroob (Mel Brooks) orders his flagship under the command of Lord Helmet (Rick Moranis) to kidnap the pampered Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) of Druidia.

However, they have not accounted for space drifter Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his co-pilot Barf (John Candy), the Mog, nor for the honorable Druish maiden Dot Matrix (Lorene Yarnell), or even the mysterious power of “the Schwartz”…
