Shirouyasu Suzuki Special 2026
Shirouyasu Suzuki (1935–2022) is regarded as one of the best-known and most influential practitioners of personal and private analogue filmmaking and documentary. His audiovisual work and poetry have inspired numerous artists of subsequent generations, also through his teaching at Tama Art University and the Image Forum in Tokyo.
From 1963 to 1978, Suzuki worked as a cameraman at NHK while simultaneously shooting 8mm and 16mm films with his own cameras. He captured fragments of the places he visited, focusing in particular on everyday moments and intimate family life.
We present his diary films Impressions of a Sunset and 15 Days, made in 1975 and 1980, respectively, as well as the 2005 film After All, I’m 70 Years Old.
