She Dances Alone
They were strikingly similar: the ballet dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky and his daughter Kyra, who was born in 1914, three years before Nijinsky's mental breakdown. She inherited his looks, his talent and his eccentricity. In 1981, Austrian-American director Robert Dornhelm (THE CHILDREN OF THEATRE STREET [1977], ANNE FRANK [2001]) made an award-winning film about her: SHE DANCES ALONE. In the film, Kyra Vaslavovna Nijinsky, dancer, painter and impressive personality, reads Max von Sydow from Nijinsky's diaries and dances with Pat-rick Dupond, Ètoile dancer of the Paris Opera Ballet.
