Second Wind
Last winter, five Ukrainian soldiers – each of them seriously wounded – set out to climb Kilimanjaro. All five live with prosthetic legs. Their expedition became the subject of the documentary film “Second Wind”, which traces their journey from the realities of the battlefield to the physical and emotional challenges of the world’s highest free-standing mountain.
The film tells a story of resilience and determination at a time when Ukraine is fighting not only for its territorial integrity but also for its democratic future in Europe. Beyond the personal stories of recovery and perseverance, “Second Wind” raises broader political questions:
How do societies endure in times of war, how do individuals rebuild their lives after severe injuries, and how do the citizens of Ukraine remain committed to a European future?
