School of Working Children
SCHOOL OF WORKING CHILDREN tells the moving story of children and teenagers who work on the streets of Iran to support their families. While their peers in other countries attend school, they spend their days in markets, on construction sites, at intersections, or on garbage dumps. The film follows these children over an extended period of time, giving them a voice and revealing their dreams, fears, and unwavering desire for education and a better life.
At the heart of the film are alternative schools established by dedicated social workers and activists. There, the children receive not only an education, but also protection, a sense of community, and hope. The documentary offers a powerful insight into the social and political circumstances behind child labor, shedding light on the impact that poverty, war, displacement, and social exclusion have on young people. At the same time, it is a story of courage, solidarity, and the transformative power of education.
