In 1947, Arnold Schoenberg expressed his hope that one day people on the street would whistle his melodies. Marino Formenti and Thomas Marschall take him at his word, setting themselves up in Vienna’s squares with a piano, a camera and plenty of schnapps, to explore what happens when Schoenberg’s demanding music encounters curious, unprepared, and sometimes surprisingly accurate listeners.
