Sand Flakes
David lives with his mother Iris in a fairly isolated town in the Negev, the south of Israel, in very limited financial circumstances. He wants to become a writer and is a member of an internet group of teenage writers. His stories about family, growing up and the search for creativity become small animated films in the film with his sick mother as the real heroine. The special thing about this feature film is the collaboration between mother and son in directing and developing the story. We see two generations, two different worlds and conflicts. But we also see how life in the south of the country can grow together with other regions and the most diverse Jewish Israeli milieus. (Frank Stern)
