Roid

Sadu is arranged to marry a young woman by the landowner whose land he works. Because of her behaviour, which deviates from the norm, she is summarily declared mad by the locals – and her husband takes drastic measures to get rid of her. ROID drifts into a world of fascinating and at times unsettling symbolism. Set against the vast expanse of the Bengal river delta, often shrouded in darkness illuminated only by fire, the film weaves together myths from Hinduism and the Bible whilst shedding light on real-world power structures.
