The unsuccessful musician Erich "Rickerl" Bohacek has been writing his first album for years. But he lacks the courage and consistency to follow his passion and gain a foothold in the music scene. To keep his head above water, he works as a gravedigger, travels around Vienna's pubs with his guitar, performs as a wedding singer and desperately tries to be a good father to his son Dominik. But Rickerl is a chaotic free spirit and stands in the way of himself and his happiness.

Voodoo Jürgens and his songs, which are closely linked to the plot, lend RICKERL its musical soul. With pub banter and plenty of local colour, director Adrian Goiginger delves deep into Viennese (night) life and tells a touching father-son story.
