Restitucija, ili, San i java stare garde (Eighty Plus)

With Eighty Plus, 82-year-old Želimir Žilnik, once the protagonist of radical Yugoslavian cinema, has created a wonderfully mischievous late work on the border between documentary and fiction. In Vienna, Serbian jazz musician Stevan receives the news that the government is returning his father's once expropriated estate to him after 80 years. Full of joy, he accepts his inheritance, thwarted by his brash (ex-)family and delighted by the magnificent landscape, beautiful memories and new acquaintances. Milan Kovačević, also 80 plus, is convincing in the leading role - a special kind of superhero thanks to his modesty. (A.U.)
