With more than 90 published works, Renate Welsh is one of the most influential authors of Austrian children’s and young adult literature. The film traces her eventful life—from a childhood marked by feelings of guilt to her literary collaborations with Christine Nöstlinger and Mira Lobe. In her writing workshops, she encouraged people far removed from the literary world—such as homeless individuals and mountain farmers—to find their own voices.
Then a sudden stroke robs her of her voice and mobility. A moving portrait of a writer who overcomes speechlessness and has never stopped telling stories.
