When the lonely captain of industry Don Esteban meets the strange beauty Lena in a nightclub, he immediately falls for her aura. But whatever hidden sides he may have initially projected onto her - the truth is quite unexpectedly different ... A noir melodrama about espionage and motherly love, set in Mexico City, which is full of refugees from the wars and dictatorships in Europe. One of the great little pleasures of the film is the presence of half the Soler clan: The eldest of the four acting siblings, Fernando, plays the man of the world with his usual class, his brother Julián a somewhat inscrutable doctor. Hovering above them all is the diva of Mexican cinema of those years, María Félix, in all her tragic grandeur.
