FromBenjamín Naishtat, María Alché

WithLeonardo Sbaraglia, Julieta Zylberberg, Marcelo Subiotto

The quirky philosophy professor Marcelo Pena has been teaching at the Puan University in Buenos Aires for years. When his supervisor dies, his chance to take over as head of the department seems to have arrived. But then his former colleague Rafael Sujarchuk appears on the scene. With his urbane charm, he immediately manages to win over the students and colleagues and fights him for the position. The awkward Marcelo not only has his hands full trying to assert himself against his rival, but nothing else is going right in his life either: his part-time jobs are getting on his nerves and he feels outclassed by his wife. When the day of the hearing comes, everything goes differently than planned in the philosophical duel between Marcelo and Rafael.

With heaps of wordplay and situation comedy, the director couple María Alché and Benjamín Naishtat (ROJO) create a hilarious film. At the same time, it is also a survey of Argentinian society, caught between resistance and the search for identity, which cinematographer Hélène Louvart captures in naturalistic, dynamic images.
