Prom Night (1980)
Four teenagers – Wendy, Jude, Nick and Luke – are busy getting ready for their long-awaited prom when a series of suspicious phone calls interrupts them as they apply make-up and tie their cravats. The stranger on the other end of the line claims to know a dark secret from their childhood and announces that he will punish the teenagers for their misdeeds.
Paul Lynch’s “Prom Night” was Canada’s unofficial answer to John Carpenter’s “Halloween”, in which Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis cemented her status as arguably the most significant scream queen in film history.
