PRASLOVAN tells the story of Zoran Predin, one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the former Yugoslavia. Director Slobodan Maksimović accompanies the musician on a personal and humorous journey through 40 years of music history – from his youth in Maribor, Slovenia, through his cult status with the band Lačni Franz, to his successful solo career. Predin’s songs reflect social upheavals, personal turning points, and the spirit of an entire region. Colleagues from the worlds of music, literature, film, and sport recall successes, crises, and moving moments. At the same time, the film does not shy away from the difficult aspects of fame and its impact on family and friendships. The result is a portrait of a rebellious, multifaceted artist whose work has shaped the culture of Central and Eastern Europe across generations. A special highlight follows the day after the Austrian premiere: On 7 November, Zoran Predin will perform live on stage in the Middle Hall at VHS Urania – a unique opportunity to experience film and music in close conjunction.
