At the beginning of the 20th century, these most famous female artists of the modern era came together in Paris. Their meeting was no coincidence; rather, they consciously chose to form a community. What united them was their love for Paris, whose feminine flair allowed them to realize their potential in unconventional and independent ways, while breaking new ground. Paris offered them the freedom to live and love however and with whomever they wanted—even if, as in their case, it was mostly other women.
