The biggest wave in the world on the big screen: after Klitschko, Nowitzki: The Perfect Shot, Kroos, and The Unbreakables, the new Broadview TV documentary event ON THE WAVE tells one of the most fascinating and unusual stories in professional sports: that of Sebastian Steudtner.

Steudtner holds the world record for the largest wave ever surfed—26.21 meters in Nazaré—and has won the award for Biggest Wave of the Year three times.

ON THE WAVE takes audiences on an adventure journey in 4K Cinemascope and Dolby Atmos, from Nuremberg to Hawaii and Nazaré. Through a collage of interviews with close companions and surfing legends such as Laird Hamilton and Maya Gabeira, breathtaking landscape shots of the world’s most famous big wave spots, spectacular surfing footage, and previously unreleased private recordings, the film is more than just the portrait of a boundary-pushing outsider who, despite setbacks, becomes a pioneer and changes the world of surfing forever.
