Nöstlinger – Sowieso und überhaupt

From *Die feuerrote Friederike* and *Gretchen Sackmeier* to *Geschichten vom Franz* – the books by Christine Nöstlinger, who passed away in 2018, have accompanied generations of young people. Using authentic language and plenty of humour, she encourages her young readers to develop independence and self-confidence, without ever taking a moralising tone. In her portrait, Alexandra Schneider now combines biography with content from Nöstlinger’s work to tell the story of Austria over the past 50 years: a story of social change, questions of emancipation and solidarity. Alongside archive footage, some of which has never been seen before, Nöstlinger’s daughters and numerous spiritual successors also have their say. For the young and the young at heart!
