Nizami – Eternal Inspiration (Nizami: daxili aləm)
Words that have transcended borders for more than 800 years. NIZAMI: ETERNAL INSPIRATION invites viewers on a cinematic journey of discovery through the life, thought, and lasting legacy of Nizami Ganjavi (c. 1141–1209). The poet, who was active in Ganja in the South Caucasus, is considered one of the most significant voices in Persian literature and, through his poetic epics, shaped the literary culture of an entire region. This English-language documentary offers historical insights and highlights the perspectives of renowned historians as well as figures from the worlds of literature and culture. The focus is on Nizami’s timeless exploration of love, power, ethics, knowledge, and the human condition— themes that still resonate remarkably closely even centuries later. His famous “Khamsa” (Quintet), in particular, unfolds a panorama of legends, history, and philosophy that connects the Caucasus with the cultural world from Persia and far beyond. Manuscripts of his works are preserved today in libraries and museums around the globe.
