Napoleon

While the tenacious French army commander Napoleon Bonaparte (Joaquin Phoenix) rises to become Emperor of France in a very short space of time, he also wins the heart of Joséphine de Beauharnais (Vanessa Kirby). Napoleon's tactical genius and his great battles are not the only things at the centre of the film. From the perspective of his one true love, the film sheds light on the volatile, destructive relationship that brings Napoleon into a hopeless struggle for her recognition and to the brink of destruction.
