Nachbeben (Det andet offer)

As an experienced doctor in a Danish hospital, neurologist Alexandra makes decisions with ease every minute of the day. But her confidence is shaken when a case turns into a tragedy. Blame begins to be laid – and Alexandra must face both her own doubts and the despair of the patient’s family. AFTERSHOCK is the moving, gripping and multi-award-winning feature film debut of the young Danish actress and filmmaker Zinnini Elkington: an intense and deeply human look at the responsibility that people in the medical professions take upon themselves. The film explores the little-noticed ‘second victim syndrome’: the emotional toll that medical staff pay when mistakes occur during treatment.
