In his documentary MUSS DAS PFERD AUCH ARBEITEN?, Leonhard Pill follows his sister Valeria, a nomadic shepherdess whose daily life is entirely shaped by her work. Through calm, precise imagery, the film paints a portrait of a woman who takes personal responsibility for every aspect of her profession—from the birth of the lambs to the slaughter of the animals—and thus lives in stark contrast to the lifestyles of her two siblings and a fast-paced, digitized world. Without romanticizing or demystifying sheep farming, the film explores the distance and convergence between different realities of life.
