The young Michael Jackson (Juliano Krue Valdi), the eighth of ten children, is drilled from an early age for a career in music under the strict guidance of his father Joe (Colman Domingo). He enjoys his first successes with the family band, the Jackson Five, and by the age of 13 he has already launched his solo career. Even as an adult (Jaafar Jackson), his life remains dominated by music. In the late 1970s, whilst working on a film, he meets Diana Ross (Kat Graham) and producer Quincy Jones (Kendrick Sampson), which fundamentally changes his musical direction. The album ‘Off the Wall’ (1979), produced by Jones, becomes a huge success, which is surpassed in 1982 by the groundbreaking and best-selling record ‘Thriller’. Parallel to this rise to fame comes a rift with his father Joe, whom Jackson dismisses as his manager and replaces with the lawyer John Branca (Miles Teller).
