Marafona – Ein Film über das Lieben

Elias and Katharina are travelling to Portugal. He is the owner of an advertising agency, she is a talented pianist. Although there is something sizzling between them, their relationship doesn't seem to be right because they haven't really arrived in their shared world. In the small town of Monsanto, they first meet an old woman who sells Marafona dolls, which are placed under the bed of young married couples on their wedding night, and later Katharina's long-time friend Maria, with whom Elias is secretly trying to get involved ... Gradually, the facets of these characters and their relationships with each other are revealed. In addition to wonderful landscape shots and literary dialogue, Antonio D'Almeida's music in particular underscores this cinematic exploration of the soul. (Florian Widegger)
